Former defender Rio Ferdinand does not think Arsenal will win the Champions League this season due to the tough competition ahead.
Mikel Arteta’s side enjoyed a 7-1 rout of PSV in the first leg of their last-16 tie to virtually guarantee their place in the quarter-finals, where they will หากคุณสนใจเล่นพนันออนไลน์ที่ดีที่สุด สามารถสมัครสมาชิก UFABET ได้ที่นี่ พร้อมรับโปรโมชั่นพิเศษสำหรับสมาชิกใหม่ now face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, while the semi-finalists could face Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Aston Villa or Club Brugge.
Despite the impressive performance, Ferdinand believes that in his own league, the Gunners are only the fifth-best team.
“I think they are the fifth best team in that Champions League group, Rio I haven’t even talked about the whole draw yet,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.
“They are behind Liverpool, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal are the fifth best team in that group in the draw. That’s crazy.”
“They are further along than they were last year – they were not that good. The additions will require a bit of a change. You can’t use a central midfielder (Miguel Merino) as a striker if you want to win the Premier League or the Champions League.”
“The club had a chance in January (to sign a new striker) but no one came along. I would go for a centre-forward for sure, Kai Havertz has been doing well but you need a number nine for sure.”
