Howe has revealed why his team did not appeal Anthony Gordon’s red card

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has revealed why his team did not appeal Anthony Gordon’s red card, saying that it was difficult for the disciplinary committee to change their minds in เว็บพนันออนไลน์ UFABET สมัครง่าย โปรโมชั่นมากมาย the situation, so they should just let it go and solve the problem on the spot.

Gordon was sent off in the FA Cup fifth-round defeat at home to Brighton 2-1, which will see him banned for three games in all English competitions, including the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool (March 16).

That has led to fans urging the Magpies to appeal the 24-year-old’s punishment in order to win and play in the important game, but when asked for Howe’s opinion, he said it was a waste of time.

“It’s something we always discuss with multiple parties,” he said at a press conference ahead of the game against West Ham (March 9).

“We spoke to the clubs, to the stakeholders that we needed to speak to, to the regulatory authorities, things like that – and we felt there was no valid basis for an appeal.”

“What happened, Anthony didn’t have any intention. He didn’t mean to hurt anyone.”

“But you have to look at what happened and ask yourself, is there a chance of winning the appeal? If it looks like there is no chance, then don’t do it.

“Anthony understands the reason.”

The three games Gordon missed were the trip to the Hammers , the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, a home game against Brentford on April 2 , and a trip to Leicester on April 7 before returning .
